New engineering centre planned for Warwick University
University bosses want a new building for plastics and steel research.A new engineering centre could be built at Warwick University to help make the cars of the future lighter and more fuel efficient.The planned building is the second leg of a £14.5million advanced steel research hub to be run by the Warwick Manufacturing Group.Hopes are high when the planned new Materials Engineering Centre is built at the Gibbet Hill site, scientists and engineers will be able to find new ways of making steel to make vehicles lighter to make them more fuel efficient.The centre will include advanced equipment for testing the new materials.University bosses have made a planning application to Coventry City Council and people have until the end of August to have their say on the plans.
