New facility to serve offshore wind turbines
The firm behind the offshore wind farm near Crosby beach will build a new operations facility in Seacombe to help serve the energy saving turbines.DONG Energy has revealed it will construct the centre on a disused site in Kings Wharf and will include a warehouse and office block.It will then support the existing Burbo Bank offshore wind farm as well as the new Burbo Bank Extension offshore wind farm, which is currently under construction.Up to 75 jobs will be created during the construction of the facility, while around 45 people will be permanently employed at the site once it is operational.In 2014, DONG Energy was given permission to increase the number of wind turbines near Crosby Beach by the Department for Energy and Climate Change.Once construction is complete, it will see an additional 32 of the energy saving turbines built to take the overall number to 57 turbines.
