New ‘hybrid hotel’ coming to Glasgow city centre
Work on a new “hybrid hotel” offering a range of dorm, double and private rooms is set to begin later this year in the centre of Glasgow.To be located immediately opposite Queen Street Station, the “international budget hotel” will feature extra facilities such as a guest kitchen and games zone. It is being opened by Meninger, a subsidiary of educational and activity holiday specialist Holidaybreak, which itself forms part of Mumbai-listed BSE Limited.The hotel will provide 160 rooms with a further 1,400sq metres of new retail space at basement, ground and mezzanine levels. It is being developed by LGIM Real Assets, part of Legal & General, and has been pre-let to Meninger on a 25 year lease.The hotel is due to open in 2020, and will be the second in the UK for Meninger after opening for business in London in 2006.
