New masterplan unveiled for Rotherham town centre
A new masterplan for Rotherham town centre, designed to bring more people to live and work in the town, has been revealed.WYG Group and Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) have designed the plans which would lead to major developments taking place across the town.There are plans for a new destination at Forge Island including a new cinema, hotel, restaurants and potentially a new theatre.The designs also showcase a new leisure attraction at Guest & Chrimes, redeveloped outdoor spaces, and 350 new-build riverside apartments.WYG Group and LSH spent nine months consulting with local businesses and organisations to produce the plans.Rotherham outdoor market would also be opened up by developing a new attractive stepped entrance and space for a new community advice hub.Councillor Denise Lelliott said the town centre had the potential to provide something unique to visitors and residents in South Yorkshire.
