New owner for Dorset care homes
Two purpose-built care homes in Dorset with a combined 700 bedrooms have been snapped up.Target Healthcare REIT Ltd, a listed investor in care homes, has acquired Acorn Lodge and Oakdene in the village of Three Legged Cross near Wimborne for an undisclosed cost.The two homes are adjacent to each other and comprise a total of 70 bedrooms. Acorn Lodge was built in 2012 and has a total of 26 bedrooms with full ensuite bathrooms with wetroom showers, as well as community space. Oakdene was built in the 1990s and subsequently extended over a number of years to a total of 44 bedrooms. On acquisition the combined homes were let to Dorset Healthcare Ltd, which is part of the Care Concern Group. The group, which has 37 homes across the UK, plans to undertake renovation works to Oakdene, to enlarge some bedrooms, provide additional lounge space and bring the home into line with the other assets in its portfolio.
