New Plan for Inverkeithing

A Spatial Masterplan for Inverkeithing has been developed, following a charrette style consultation with the local community and other interested parties. This gave the opportunity for residents and community groups to come forward with ideas on how to improve the area and create a place where people want to live, work and meet.The ‘ImagineInverkeithing’ plan is now available for people to view either online and at Inverkeithing Civic Centre; .Fife Council and the local community were supported by AECOM, to develop the Masterplan which sets out a comprehensive set of priorities for the area and establishes a shared vision to shape investment and community decision-making over the next 20 years. As well as the regeneration of the ageing housing estate around Fraser Avenue, the plan looks at revitalising the under-used public space in the High Street.As part of the process, a number of: Short-term, Longer-term ( 2-5 year) and Bigger Challenges (5- 10 years) were considered and prioritised. Of the short-term suggestions those given the highest priority by the community were:A place for teens to hangoutHigh Street MarketsMore benches/ Public seatingAn Outdoor GymAn action plan is being developed to bring together the collective vision of the people that participated in the process and help take forward some of these ideas.Some of the funding for the Masterplan came from the Scottish Government’s ‘Making Places’ initiative which is designed to assist communities in building the skills and confidence needed and help them to realise their objectives.Further funding is from Fife Council: South & West Fife Area Committee – Local Community Plan; and Economy, Planning and Employability Services.
