New planning application submitted for intu Broadmarsh

The redevelopment on the intu Broadmarsh centre is creeping forward after a planning application to discharge conditions for the scheme was submitted to Nottingham City Council.The Broadmarsh Retail Partnership’s application is for the the “part demolition, alteration and extension of intu Broadmarsh shopping centre, including change of use and erection of new buildings to provide for uses withinA1-A5 (shops, financial & professional services, restaurants & cafes, drinking establishments and hot food take-away), and D2 (assembly and leisure).”It also points to the “Demolition of western pedestrian bridge and refurbishment of eastern bridge across Collin Street. Alterations to existing entrances on Collin Street, Lister Gate and Drury Walk. Creation of new entrance on Middle Hill and other ancillary works and operations. ”Images with the application show crane and site boundary hoardings in what is the most visible example yet that the long-delayed project may finally be kicking off soon.Earlier this week, intu, the owner of the Broadmarsh and Victoria shopping malls in Nottingham and a centre in Derby, has said it is considering entering the private rented sector (PRS).
