New plans tabled for Sweet Street development
A planned residential development has been lined up for a site next to a landmark Leeds building which houses Asda and Jet2.In 2014, property developer Oakapple Group was granted planning permission for an office development on Sweet Street in Leeds city centre. The potential development formed part of the Holbeck Urban Village Regeneration area and was expected to have an investment value of £30m, but permission expired in January 2017.The site remains occupied by a vacant warehouse.Oakapple Group will now make a presentation to Leeds City Council on 18 May to discuss the potential for using the site to create residential housing. The new proposal would involve a ten-storey development that would consist of a maximum of 192 dwellings with 41 one-bedroom apartments and 151 two-bedroom apartments of various sizes.
