New Wrexham primary school set for approval
A new primary school in Wrexham is set to be approved at a council meeting next week.Wrexham Council is seeking outline planning permission to build the school on land off Westminster Drive and Chester Road.The application is for a new 315 pupil primary school, with an additional 45 pre-school age children in nursery, attending part time. The school is to replace the existing St Mary’s RC school. Access points are proposed on Rhosnesni Lane and on Westminster Drive.The application said approval for access and layout are sought at this stage. It added that scale, appearance and landscaping are reserved for subsequent approval. Wrexham’s planning officers have recommended the plans are granted with conditions, stating the proposals will secure a “significant improvement” in primary education facilities compared to those offered by the existing St Mary’s school site.Wrexham’s planning committee meet on Monday, 10 January.
