Newton-Le-Willows rail station will be transformed with several new facilities and a vast car park .Merseytravel said the plans include a car park with 400 spaces, park-and-ride scheme with a new bus stop, ticket office and toilet facilities at the station, due for completion by March 2018.Construction work at the site, off Mill Lane, could begin early next year, with the former Mill Green school already demolished.St Helens council’s planning committee will decide tonight whether to approve the scheme’s first phase, involving the new bus stop ‘interchange’, car park and new pick-up and drop-off area.A council report said plans were “in progress” to force the sale of commercial buildings on the site, which are currently occupied.
