Next stage of former Haslar site is given green light
Councillors have given the green light for phase two of the re-development at the former Haslar hospital site.At a regulatory board meeting, councillors in Gosport welcomed the planning application which will see retirement flats built alongside a care home. The plan is just one of many developments which are taking place at the site. Once finished, it will have bars, restaurants, a doctor’s practice, retirement flats, care homes, stores and a church.Labour councillor Dennis Wright welcomed the application but wanted a pledge that the commercial properties would be built. But officers at the meeting said the developers would not be able to sell all the residential properties unless the extra facilities were built.
