Nikal gets green light for next phase of Altrincham scheme
Planning consent has been given for Nikal to proceed with the second phase of Altair, its £70m residential and lifestyle Quarter in Altrincham town centre.Nikal’s reserved matters application for Phase Two of the 4.5 acre development went to committee on Thursday night with officers approving plans for the construction of four contemporary style buildings housing 85 apartments, 44,000 sq ft of leisure retail space and 18,000 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation around a large public outdoor space.The new public space includes a central boulevard that provides a direct link between the new Quarter and the Transport Interchange as well as leisure space for residents, workers and visitors.Work on Phase One, an apartment building with 59 one and two bedroom apartments and ground floor retail space, commenced earlier this year with demolition of the existing buildings.Nikal’s contractor, Eric Wright Construction, is scheduled to start the main works this autumn.
