NIKAL LODGES EXCHANGE SQUARE PLANS
Detailed plans have been lodged to build more than 600 apartments on Exchange Square in Birmingham’s Eastside, 18 months after outline proposals were approved by the city council.The reserved matters application has been lodged by developer Nikal. The site will comprise 603 apartments over three blocks rising to 26, 15 and eight storeys high alongside 27,500 sq ft of retail space.The scheme has been designed specifically for the rental market by architecture firm Stephenson Studio and will also include a members’ club-style hub and a 10,000 sq ft landscaped roof garden.John Moffat, development director at Nikal, said: “The private rented sector (PRS) sector in Birmingham represents a burgeoning growth market, with the continued investment in the city’s core infrastructure driving a real resurgence in city centre living.
