North Ayrshire to consult on proposed biomass boiler system
A plan to introduce a biomass boiler system at a housing development in North Ayrshire is to be the subject of a public consultation.North Ayrshire Council is asking residents to have their say on the proposal, which would deliver savings on energy bills for tenants and reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the Flatt Road development.As well as a number of schools across North Ayrshire, both Watt Court sheltered housing complex in Dalry and Glencairn House sheltered housing complex in Stevenston are currently served by biomass systems.Proposals can also be viewed online from October 9 until October 30.The £19.5 million Flatt Road development will create 122 new homes, including 54 general needs homes, 22 supported accommodation units, 18 amenity bungalows and a 28-unit sheltered housing complex.The project is part of North Ayrshire Council’s plan to build 1,375 new homes by March 2024.
