Northumberland College breaks ground on STEM Centre
Northumberland College has broken ground on its £2.5m STEM Centre.The facility is being built at the establishment’s Ashington campus with a scheduled completion date of next summer.It will be home to specialist science and technology workshops with dedicated facilities that will include digital 3D imagery equipment, nanotechnology, microscopes, specialist chemicals and digital fabrication equipment.The centre – which has been backed by a £2.3m funding boost from the North East Local Enterprise Partnership’s (LEP’s) Local Growth Fund – will also provide a base for maths and digital courses at Northumberland College.Summers-Inman is projecting-managing the development while ESH Build has been appointed lead contractor.
