Office building earmarked for student accommodation
Plans have been outlined for the transformation of an office building in Nottingham city centre to provide new student accommodation.Maber Architects is seeking the go-ahead on behalf of the applicant to convert the 2nd to 9th floors of Pearl House to provide 140 student bedrooms.Pearl House, on Friar Lane, was constructed in 1962 and consists of ground floor retail units, first floor apartments and office accommodation above.Plans involve the creation of a mixture of studios and cluster flats, along with amenity areas such as a cinema and gym.The project would also include 64 cycle spaces.A statement from the applicant said: “The city centre location of the site will provide residents with easy access to a wide range of shops, restaurants and leisure venues.”
