Outline Bristol plans set to move forward
Outline plans for a 500-strong residential scheme in Bristol – which is considered “integral” to a more prominent development coming forward – look set to be backed. The application concerns a site to the west of Silbury Road at Longmoor. The development would comprise up to 510 homes, of which 30 per cent would be affordable, and 53,820 sq ft of commercial and community space. If backed, the scheme will also act as an enabling form of development for the Ashton Gate Sporting Quarter, as the receipt from the sale of the Longmoor project to a developer will be used to part finance the mixed-use venture. The funds would total approximately £24.1m, with the link between the two applications deemed necessary to part justify the “inappropriate development” on the Green Belt. The outline plans will go before Bristol City Council’s Development Control Committee on 5 October, with a recommendation for approval.
