PA Housing set to deliver ‘fully affordable’ Walton-on-Thames development

PA Housing is set to deliver a “fully affordable” housing development in Walton-on-Thames after securing funding from Homes England, the government’s housing accelerator.The new Thames View development will include 97 new homes, and replaces the former Thames View House, which had already been refurbished several times and no longer met residents’ needs.All 45 of the rented homes in the new Thames View House will be available for social rent – which is lower than local market rent – making them “truly affordable”, according to PA Housing.The remaining 52 homes are available for shared ownership, enabling buyers to purchase a proportion of their property and pay rent on the rest.PA Housing says it plans to replace the existing building with higher quality homes and “completely transform” the neighbourhood through the creation of a “far more attractive” living environment.The new Thames View House includes ground floor community space, which has been set aside for Walton-on-Thames’ youngest residents – the long-established Thames View House Pre-School is set to move into new premises within the building.Chris Whelan, executive director of Development and Sales, said: “The regeneration of Thames View House is another incredibly significant addition to PA’s ongoing development programme across London, the Southeast, and the Midlands.“By securing Homes England funding we’re now able to provide 45 homes at social rent, and we’re able to offer 22 homes that were originally earmarked for private sale as shared ownership, boosting the area’s offering of affordable housing significantly.“The team here at PA Housing is located in our Case House building on Walton-on- Thames’ High Street, and we’re all really looking forward to seeing the development progress.“We’re very excited to be providing our local community with a space that meets their needs.”Construction on Thames View House is set to start in September 2022, with the build programme set to last two years.PA Housing is a provider of affordable housing that holds a stock of around 24,000 homes and employ more than 600 staff.
