Permission granted for 384 homes in scheme worth £112m
Plans for a 384-unit build to rent scheme worth £112m next to St Mary’s Football Stadium have been given the go-ahead.Savills central south planning team secured permission for the plans, as Southampton City Council voted to grant a resolution to approve the proposals put forward by Hawkstone Properties Ltd and SGN Place.The scheme, which is on a former gasworks site that has been unused for ten years, features 186 one-bed and 198 two-bed flats.The residential blocks will range from eight to 17 storeys high.Bryony Stala, director, Savills central south planning team in Southampton, said: “These much-needed homes for the long-term rental market will offer stability and security for tenants.”The scheme also delivers wider social value, providing a catalyst for development in the area to enable the creation of a community, which will in turn help support the commercial aspects of the scheme.”
