Permission granted for housing at Dundee former school site
Plans to build new houses for social rent on the former site of Dundee’s Whitfield Primary School have been submitted.Former Whitfield Primary School, as seen in 2012 (Picture: Google Street View)The plans have been submitted by Angus Housing Association and George Martin Builders Ltd, who intend to build 18 homes on the Longhaugh Road site, made up of 10 houses and eight flats.The housing was requested by Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership, who asked for some of the homes to be wheelchair accessible.The developers have made provisions for five accessible properties to be incorporated in the development, with four flats for two occupants and one house for four occupants.The planning documents reveal that the development forms part of Dundee City Council’s strategic housing investment plan.The documents also indicate that the Scottish Government has provided funding for the development.Angus Housing Association has 370 people currently on its waiting list in the Whitfield area.
