A pipeline has been launched for Learning from low-cost, low-carbon homesThe contract start Date 1.4.2017. Approach to market date is 13.12.2016.This contract will study the construction of ‘Low Cost, Low Carbon’ housing developments in order to understand:The drivers, barriers, attitudes and challenges through the various stages of construction, from specification and design, through construction and supply chain, to hand-over and occupancy.The costs and cost drivers associated with construction.The actual energy performance of these homes when occupied and the reasons behind this performance.The evidence will be used to support the case for policy to support low-carbon building construction and an understanding of the art of the possible to inform future emissions reductions plans. Evidence will be collected primarily through social research, site inspections and home energy monitoring.This is a potential opportunity from the government, and the pipeline gives advance notice of an opportunity that might be offered by the public sector in the future – allowing potential suppliers to plan accordingly.
