Pipeline Framework: PS22373 – Consultancy project on operability of the GB electricity system for REMA programme
A pipeline has been launched for PS22373 – Consultancy project on operability of the GB electricity system for REMA programme. The contract start Date is 3 January 2023. Approach to market date is 16 November 2022.UK Shared Business Services (UK SBS) on behalf of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) will shortly be approaching the market to formally tender for a Consultancy project on operability of the GB electricity system for REMA programme. At present we are trying to establish if an Open (below threshold) or Call off from a Framework route to market would be most appropriate to secure a Supplier for the services required. The overall project aims are:The project aims to inform BEIS’s consideration of the extent that existing policies can be relied upon to ensure that the provision of operability services for the GB electricity system is consistent with our objective for a decarbonised electricity system by 2035, subject to security of supply, which is reliable and cost effective. It will consider how the challenges posed to future operability can be most effectively addressed by examining potential areas of reform as identified by BEIS and informed by the contractor’s assessment of operability issues. A key outcome will be to determine how system operators can make the transition from fossil fuel-based ancillary services to those provided reliably by low carbon energy sources, cost effectively. To help support our decision on route to market, we have provided a full specification and supplier questions within the attachments section of this notice.Your feedback would be gratefully appreciated. This is a potential opportunity from the government, and the pipeline gives advance notice of an opportunity that might be offered by the public sector in the future – allowing potential suppliers to plan accordingly. When a public sector organisation publishes a pipeline notice, it does not necessarily mean that an opportunity will be offered in the future. For more information contact: UK SHARED BUSINESS SERVICES LIMITED, Polaris House,North Star Avenue, SWINDON SN21FF.
