Plan For 20 New Houses Gets Permission
A £2.6m development of 20 houses in Greenock has been given planning permission. Councillors on Inverclyde Planning Board agreed that housing association River Clyde Homes can build the properties on a site where there used to be four five-storey blocks of flats at Mallard Crescent and Merlin Lane. They will be a mixture of two-storey terraced and semi-detached homes for social rent; six two-bedroom houses and 14 three-bedroom houses. The road and footpath that link Mallard Crescent and Merlin Lane will be upgraded and widened to 5.5 metres with two-metre-wide footways on either side. Each house will have one parking space and seven visitor parking spaces are proposed.Nine objections were made including concern over traffic, loss of open space and the type of housing proposed.
