Plan for £90m Ascot hospital rebuild
Home Counties NHS Trust Frimley Health has unveiled plans to invest in a new £90m hospital for Ascot.Plans for the Heatherwood site include a modern hospital building and the sale of land for housing. This sale will make the project possible by part-funding the cost of the new hospital and allowing the current hospital to run until the new one is ready. The hospital’s woodland setting would also bring added benefit to recovering patients. If approved, the new hospital will include six operating theatres, new cardiac facilities and 40 inpatient beds.In 2012 the hospital was considered for closure by its previous NHS trust, Heatherwood and Wexham Park, as part of cost-saving measures.
