Planning boost for £5bn Liverpool Waters scheme
Peel’s £5bn Liverpool Waters regeneration scheme has taken another step forward after councillors approved plans to create 237 apartments for market sale and ground-floor commercial space in a landmark new business and leisure district.A full planning application by Romal Capital and Peel Land & Property (Ports) has been waved through by Liverpool City Council’s planning committee. The applicants are proposing to construct a part-14-storey and part-eight-storey block on a rectangular piece of land between the River Mersey and Waterloo Road in the World Heritage Site Buffer Zone. The site earmarked for regeneration comprises Plots C04 and C06 of Central Docks. It is envisaged that there would be 96 one-bed and 141 two-bed apartments for market sale as well as 5,016 sq ft of commercial space across three ground-floor units and undercroft parking for 51 cars. The scheme has been designed by BLOK Architecture while the planning consultant is P4 Planning. The team behind Liverpool Waters unveiled details of their plans for the Central Docks neighbourhood at MIPIM, the world’s largest property conference, in March 2017. It is proposed that the landmark new business and leisure district will rise up to 44 storeys high.
