Planning consent for car showroom redevelopment
The proposed redevelopment of a prominent former car showroom site in Sheffield to provide retail units, office space and luxury townhouses has been approved.Primesite UK, supported by CODA Planning, plans to redevelop the former Gilders car showroom at the junction of Ecclesall Road, Ecclesall Road South and Psalter Lane, Banner Cross. The site has been dormant for a number of years following Gilders relocation to Meadowhead.The car showroom is set to be converted into four retail and leisure units.The workshop and stores would also be converted into office accommodation for accountancy firm Brown McLeod and eight luxury townhouses would be built to the rear of the site.The scheme was granted planning permission, subject to conditions, at a meeting of Sheffield City Council’s Planning and Highways Committee on 2 April 2019, having previously been deferred at meeting in March.
