Planning permission given green light for 350-home development

A major South Bristol housing scheme is another step closer after securing planning consent to build 350 market and affordable homes at Hartcliffe Campus.The project, led by Bristol City Council, is part of its ongoing commitment to tackling the housing crisis and increasing the number of homes being built in the city. A preferred developer for the Hartcliffe Campus site will be announced in the autumn, and they will then produce a detailed design for the scheme. Once this has been agreed, it is hoped that development will begin by the end of 2019.Bristol City Council ran a series of consultation events relating to the developments from October 2017 to January 2018, to give residents and businesses an opportunity to have their say and find out more information about the project.Hartcliffe Campus is an allocated brownfield site for housing led development within the Bristol Local Plan. The site is in close proximity to existing retail, leisure and employment facilities.The project proposes a mixture of houses and apartments. To provide long term protection for wildlife at the site, new habitats will be incorporated within the masterplan, including a wildlife corridor, a pollinator park and rooftop habitats.Outline plans for Hengrove Park have also been prepared by Bristol City Council.
