Plans approved for 216-home scheme on site of former warehouse
Manchester City Council has granted planning permission for an application by Your Housing Group to build 216 new homes on the site of a former warehouse in Openshaw, Greater Manchester.The 216 homes will bring more affordable good quality rental accommodation to Greater Manchester, along with a range of affordable home ownership options with 72 for sale through shared ownership, 72 for private rent and 72 for affordable rent.The development, which will be known as Edgefield Green, will create a community of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bed houses with a mix of terrace, semi-detached and detached properties with gardens and landscaped green spaces.The 216-home development will be built by Warrington-based affordable housing provider, Your Housing Group.This development has been funded through Your Housing Group’s strategic partnership with Homes England. Your Housing Group was announced as one of the Government housing agency’s strategic partners in January 2019, receiving £87.5m of funding in line with the Government’s aspiration to provide 40,000 affordable new homes across the country.The land on Edge Lane was purchased in 2019. Remediation work is under way, and Your Housing Group is in the process of appointing a contractor. Building work is due to start on site in early 2021.
