Plans approved for job-creating warehouse scheme
Plans have been approved for a new commercial development adjacent to the nearly completed Amazon logistics centre in Darlington, which has the potential to create more than 700 jobs.Lichfields secured consent for the £30m proposals at Morton Park, on behalf of landowners Durham Cathedral and developers Tritax Symmetry.Earmarked proposals for the site include 630,000 sq ft of commercial/logistics space, along with associated developments including a hotel, family pub, drive-thru restaurants, cafés and petrol station.During the two-year build phase Lichfields estimate around 140 construction jobs would be created and the scheme would deliver a £15m GVA boost to the regional economy.It is also estimated that the development will create between 715 and 800 jobs once completed.
