Plans for clinical specialists hub given green light
Plans to build a new two-and-a-half storey in-patient unit building at the Oakhaven Hospice in Lymington have been given the green light.The proposal set out by the Oakhaven Trust will see the demolition of the current single-storey unit, replaced by a hospice with ancillary staff facilities and office space.The application was granted permission by New Forest District Council’s planning meeting on the 12th June.The site lies on the southern edge of the settlement of Pennington.The scheme also includes a two-storey education pavilion to replace the existing sheds.Supporters of the scheme have outlined the public benefits that will stem from the improved facilities.The aim is to make Oakhaven Hospice a hub for clinical specialists, helped by the expertise of care professionals in partnership with Southampton University and specialist NHS practitioners, through the construction of the education facility.
