Plans for 1,100 homes tipped for go-ahead

Proposals for up to 1,100 homes to be constructed in Northamptonshire have been recommended for approval.The scheme by Stepnell Developments would also see a two-form entry primary school and a local centre built on land a Malabar Farm off Staverton Road, Daventry.Daventry District Council’s planning committee is set to meet virtually on Wednesday 9 December to vote on the application.A council document published ahead of the meeting said: “It will deliver a balanced and sustainable development of up to 1,100 new homes and community infrastructure in an attractive well design, landscaped and pleasant environment.”The proposed arrangements for accessing the development will enable it to be safely and conveniently accessed by car and public transport without significant adverse impacts on the existing highway network.”The scheme will promote sustainable transport within and beyond this site. The application will protect and enhance the site’s biodiversity and historic heritage.”The scheme will not cause flooding, nor will it have any other significant adverse environmental impact that would warrant the refusal of planning permission.”The scheme will, of course, extend into open countryside, taking up agricultural land and will change the appearance of the existing countryside.”This principle of this change is however established by Policy H01 which allocates the site for residential development.”
