Plans for Broadmead redevelopment unveiled
The owner of Bristol’s Cabot Circus has revealed plans for the redevelopment of the neighbouring Broadmead shopping district. It is hoped that the proposed investment would reinvigorate a large area of Broadmead around Penn Street and the Horsefair, and bring new jobs to the city centre. It would feature a mix of shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, leisure and open spaces.Following a public consultation on 16 to 18 June 2016, the Bristol Alliance, owner and developer of Cabot Circus, intends to submit an outline planning application this autumn. The opening of Cabot Circus in 2008 provided boost to the local economy and brought new retailers to the region, however, the neighbouring Broadmead is said to have changed little since it was built in the 1950s.
