Plans for hundreds of apartments to be presented

A trio of developments that would together provide hundreds of new apartments at sites in Leeds city centre are set to be presented to the council’s planning committee later this week (13 September 2018).Among the three pre-application proposals that will go before Leeds City Council’s City Plans Panel is the £30m SoCity Leeds scheme, a 23-storey co-living development.The site at Lisbon Square is set to be the first under the ‘SoCity’ brand, from serviced office and property development company Prospect Property Group.It would will comprise 146 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments together with 24-hour concierge and security, weekly cleaning and linen services, co-working hubs, communal coffee and social areas and state of the art gym and cinema facilities.Plans for a new build-to-rent development on a site off Marsh Lane, Saxton Lane and Flax Place will also be presented at the meeting.The scheme from Court Collaboration proposes the construction of two new buildings of between six and 21 storeys.The development would feature a total of 347 apartments with a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Residents’ facilities, including a community area, event space and a work hub, would also be created.Finally, Leeds City Apartments will present its plans for two apartment blocks on the former site of the Shannon Street Mills.The company is proposing to develop a total of 345 apartments, with a mix of one-, two- and three-bedrooms units, in buildings ranging from six to 19 storeys in height.There would also be the potential for commercial uses on the ground floor, such as a restaurant and a coffee shop, as well as leisure spaces for the occupiers, such as a gym and a resident’s lounge.Members of the City Plans Panel will be asked for their views on the three schemes.
