Plans for major Nottingham sports bar get green light

Arc Inspirations, the UK hospitality operator, has been given the go-ahead to transform a Grade II listed building in Nottingham city centre into a 12,000 sq ft sports bar.The company has been granted planning permission to open one of its BOX sports bars at 2-3 Thurland Street, which was formerly occupied by All Saints.Arc Inspirations also wants to open a Manahatta cocktail bar in the former French Connection unit on Victoria Street, but these plans have been delayed over concerns surrounding the interior design.If both bars get the go-ahead, Arc promised to create 200 jobs in Nottingham. The Box bar will occupy the basement, ground and first floors of the site, which was built in 1879 and was once home to the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Bank.The bank was converted into a pair of retail units – the space to which Arc’s application relates – in 2004.Arc was formed in 1999 by Wolstencroft and Chris Ure. It initially catered for the student population in the Headingley area of Leeds but has since expanded significantly.
