Plans for nearly 300 homes on greenbelt land set to get the go-ahead
Plans for nearly 300 homes on greenbelt land set to get the go-aheadPlans for the construction of nearly 300 homes on former greenbelt land in Coventry are set to receive approval this week. The proposed development, located between Bennetts Road and Fivefield Road in Keresley, will be judged at a meeting of the planning committee on Thursday (February 29).Previously designated as greenbelt land, the site underwent reallocation for housing following an independent examination by an inspector.Out of the 290 new residences, there will be nine one-bedroom properties, 90 two-bedroom properties, 119 three-bedroom properties, and 72 four-bedroom properties. Among these, 73 homes will be designated as affordable housing.Initially, 51 objections were raised by residents and businesses when the outline application was first submitted last year.Subsequently, an additional eight letters of objection have been forwarded to the council since the reserved matters application was filed. These objections voiced concerns covering various issues including biodiversity impact, house design, bus stop locations, effects on rights of way, insufficient infrastructure, and congestion. As part of the proposals, funding has been arranged for sports facilities in the Coventry North West area, which will include swimming pools, a sports hall, and an artificial grass pitch. The planning committee documents acknowledge that the redevelopment principle at the site has been previously established. While comments regarding the loss of Green Belt land and biodiversity are acknowledged, they cannot be reconsidered as these matters have already been determined under the outline permission.
