Plans for new secondary school move forward
Plans to build a 1,260-place secondary school and sixth form in Derby have moved forward.The project includes a three-storey teaching block and separate sports hall for Derby Cathedral School on land at the former Friar Gate Goods Yard in Great Northern Road.The city council’s planning committee, at a meeting on Thursday 18 July, voted to delegate powers to officers to work on a number of concerns councillors had with the scheme and negotiate a Section 106 deal. Approval will be granted if both are agreed.If the concerns can not be overcome, the plans will come back before the committee in September.
