Plans in for 120 homes on former college campus

More than 120 new homes could be built on the site of a former college campus in Leeds in newly submitted plans get the go-ahead.WYG, on behalf of Stonewater, Galliford Try Partnerships Yorkshire and Leeds City College, has submitted an application to Leeds City College for residential development on part of the former Horsforth Campus site.Full planning permission is sought for the construction of 123 homes, public open space, landscaping and access.A mix of detached and semi-detached properties with between two and four bedrooms is proposed. The development is for 100 per cent affordable housing.Outline planning permission was March 2016 for Phase 1 of the development of the site, comprising up to 72 homes, access, landscaping and open space. This part of the site is now subject to a reserved matters application for 65 dwellings. The new application represents Phase 2 of the wider scheme.In total, the scheme will provide a total of 396 car parking spaces.The Horsforth Campus closed in 2017 as part of a programme of consolidation to enable Leeds City College to reinvest in the new college stock and the estate rationalisation. Stonewater has agreed to purchase the whole site for residential redevelopment.Earlier this week (2 September), the college officially opened its new £60m Quarry Hill Campus, which is set to be home to 3,000 students from the School of Creative Arts and School of Social Science.
