Plans in for £500m Leeds South Bank build to rent scheme
Build-to-rent developer Platform_ has submitted outline plans for a 1.3m sq ft mixed-use scheme in the expanding South Bank area of Leeds city centre.Platform_ said its Sweet Street scheme of 1,350 flats would represent a £500m investment for the local region.The ambitious masterplan also includes two office offices buildings of 20,000 sq m, new leisure and retail opportunities, and the regeneration of a historic pub.Jean-Marc Vandevivere, CEO of Platform_, said: “We see fantastic opportunities in Leeds, one of the fastest-growing cities in the UK, and the South Bank area in particular. We are proud to present a transformational vision to create a community-first development that epitomises the very best of inclusive, modern day living.“The Sweet Street development represents an exciting and evolutionary addition to our portfolio, whilst also underlining our commitment to long-term investment in the region. We are aiming to commence works to bring our vision to life in 2023.”Construction, if approved, would take place across the 8 acres on a brownfield site which has been vacant since 2009. It is expected to create 360 full time equivalent jobs during the construction phase and once completed.
