Plans in for bingo hall and car showroom redevelopment

New plans have been lodged to redevelop a former bingo hall and car showroom site in Cheltenham with a mixed-use scheme featuring flats and commercial units.An application has been submitted to Cheltenham Borough Council for the redevelopment of existing buildings and a piece of undeveloped land along the Lower High Street.The site is made up of three plots of land with each formerly under separate ownership. Planning consent has previously been granted for 33 residential properties and two commercial units across three applications.It is currently occupied by the ACE Bingo Hall building and a former car showroom, as well as an undeveloped plot of land.The new proposals comprise a four-storey building located in the southern part of the site, along with a two-storey unit located in the north western corner.The buildings will comprise 40 residential apartments with three retail units on the ground floor, fronting onto the High Street. Car parking will also be provided for 20 vehicles.A planning statement submitted as part of the application said the scheme “maximizes the use of land and this ensures that the piece of brownfield land is used in the most effective manner”.SF Planning and coombes:everitt architects worked on the plans on behalf of applicant Mark Casey Ltd.
