Plans have been lodged for the demolition of a former service station to make room for the construction of eight townhouses in Sunderland.Submitted to Sunderland City Council by The Newcastle Car Wash, the plans involve the removal of the former Southmoor Service Station, to construct eight two and a half-storey townhouses in Welstholme Terrace. The proposals include pedestrian access taken from the front of the site, as well as 12 car parking spaces. The site, which is currently vacant, lies on a major transport route into the city centre and is in close proximity to a number of primary and secondary schools, which include Grangetown Primary School, Southmoor Academy and Hill View Junior School.
