Plans in for major student scheme
Plans have been lodged for a major student scheme featuring 124 bedrooms and two ground-floor commercial units in the Islington area of Liverpool.Devon Street Ltd, which is owned by Carol Falconer and Alfred Finnigan, has submitted a full planning application to Liverpool City Council to redevelop a car park on Devon Street near the junction with Gildart Street into a student accommodation scheme. The architect on the proposed scheme is Falconer Chester Hall.The site earmarked for regeneration is within walking distance of several major educational facilities including the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and the University of Liverpool’s main campus.It is proposed that the seven-storey scheme would have two commercial units spanning 3,326 sq ft in total and 2,669 sq ft of communal space on the ground floor. On the upper floors, there would be ten student cluster apartments with 80 bedrooms in total as well as a further 44 studio bedrooms.Liverpool City Council has not yet set a date to consider the application.
