Plans in for redevelopment of Huddersfield gateway site
Plans have been lodged for the mixed-use redevelopment of a key gateway site in Huddersfield, which could support the creation of hundreds of jobs.Developer Trinity One aims to regenerate the 6.1-acre former Kirklees College campus in New North Road on the western side of the town’s ring road.It plans to develop new residential, leisure, retail and employment space on the 342,000 sq ft site, which includes a grade II*-listed former Huddersfield Infirmary building and grade II-listed statue of Edward VII.The former Infirmary building would be restored and a series of new buildings constructed. The scheme would comprise a total of 229 residential properties, offices and retail units, including a new supermarket.
