Plans in for up to 1,600 new homes

Up to 1,600 new homes and almost 20 acres of employment land could be created on the north eastern edge of Northampton according to new plans.Davidsons Homes and property development and investment company L&Q Estates are seeking outline planning permission for the proposed scheme on land north of Overstone Green.A decision is expected to be made by Daventry District Council in the summer.The Overstone Green development, which is to be built on a 196-acre site to the south of the A43 Kettering Road, is part of a wider project which will deliver a total of 3,500 new homes, 24 acres of employment land, a new primary school, convenience stores, health care facilities, a community centre, sport and leisure facilities and improvements to the transport and road infrastructure.The scheme forms the northern part of the Northampton North Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE), the land having been allocated in the West Northamptonshire Joint Core Local Strategy Local Plan in 2014.Outline planning permission for the southern part of the project, which is set to comprise up to 2,000 homes, was granted in 2015.
