Plans in the pipeline for £2m sports development
A 25,565 sq ft indoor sports development could be built in Swansea if plans, currently out for consultation, are brought forward.The pre-application request for the ‘Sports Barn’ has been submitted by Akron Associates on behalf of the applicant, Swansea Council.If approved, the development will be built on the site of what is currently Cefn Hengoed Leisure Centre in Bonymaen, Swansea.The Welsh Government has agreed to an application for more than £1m in funding to develop indoor facilities.Swansea Council, in partnership with the school, Freedom Leisure which runs the council’s leisure centres, The Football Foundation, Swansea City Community Trust and other partners are working closely to secure match funding for the £2m scheme.
