Plans lodged for Birtley housing development
Plans have been lodged for a new housing development in Birtley, along with associated infrastructure and landscaping. The Persimmon Homes scheme involves the construction of 23 new houses, situated on land south of Blackfell Way, comprised of a mixture of three and four-bedroom properties. The development is also a mixture of semi-detached, detached and terrace dwellings, with some being designated as market value and others set aside for affordable housing. Located to the east of Birtley and within the wider Northside estate, the site is bound by Blackfell Way to the north, east and west and forms the spine road running through the wider Northside development. To the south, the site is bound by further vegetated land, beyond which lies residential development currently under construction.Open space has been integrated into the proposed development, along with plans to retain existing trees and vegetation where possible.Access is taken via the existing bell mouth junction located off Blackfell way to the north of the proposed site.
