Plans lodged for County Durham homes
Gleeson Regeneration has lodged plans for a housing scheme in a Durham village. The project includes 108 two, three and four bedroom homes on a 12.5-acre site at Cooper’s Terrace in Thornley.Currently, the land comprises existing road infrastructure of Coopers Close, footpaths and grassland.House types will include detached, semi-detached and bungalows, with ten per cent of the homes being affordable.A planning statement noted that the properties have been designed to be “sensitively integrated into the local environment and ensure the development is appropriate to the character and appearance of the area”.It added: “To create an attractive and well-designed setting for the development, this is complemented by a high-quality, robust landscaping scheme which seeks to soften the visual effect of the development as well as providing an attractive setting.”Durham County Council will review the plans in due course.
