Plans resubmitted for Ammanford nightclub
Plans for a nightclub above Shoppers World in Ammanford have been resubmitted to Carmarthenshire County Council.A proposal for the change of use of the current Snooker World into a nightclub was originally submitted to the council in 2012, but plans were blocked by the Welsh Government stating the development “would cause unacceptable levels of noise and disturbance.”Applicant David Griffiths, who has a track record of managing establishments including the former Tycoch nightclub in Pontaman, resubmitted the application to council planners last week.Mr Griffiths wishes to incorporate health and fitness classes including funky pump, Zumba, yoga and run health management classes into the development as well as activities for youths, the elderly and various group activities. The application states that the proposal represents a positive opportunity to enhance the vitality of Ammanford town centre and will also benefit from operational use of the building. The access statement lists the potential problems of the development and how they will be addressed if the plans get the green light. The main concern is noise abatement which the proposal states will be dealt with by working alongside county council officials and an experienced sound engineer. It is reported that only a “small amount” of noise will be generated by the nightclub if approved and will be “unlikely” to be a significant issue for the area. The opening hours of the potential nightclub are yet to be confirmed, but the proposal reads that the policy of the club will ensure music volume will be lowered 30 minutes before closing to ensure customers leave in a behaved manner.
