Plans revealed for hundreds of new homes and business hub

A developer wants to build hundreds of new homes and a new business and community hub as part of plans for the regeneration of the Rea Valley Urban Quarter.Dandara has revealed the designs for its Cheapside development in Digbeth, according to Business Live, which outline plans to build 1,500 homes and public areas on the banks of the River Rea.The business and community hub will include vehicle sharing, cycle storage and repair, electric vehicle charging points and a gym. A business space called the Henry Bradford Centre will be aimed at start-ups and SMEs.The plans outline a scheme on land next to Moseley Street, Rea Street South and Charles Henry Street which will sit alongside three neighbouring plots also earmarked for redevelopment.Plans for the Rea Valley Urban Quarter were revealed in November as details emerged of 5,000 new homes, a green corridor and a river running through the city centre for the first time in over a century.The new plans will see the area around China Town and Digbeth completely transformed into five separate neighbourhoods.As well as residential development, the new vision for the area set out scope for healthcare and education facilities as well as local amenities and employment opportunities.
