Plans to redevelop the North Stand at Newcastle Falcons’ Kingston Park have been revealed, with the project set to increase the ground’s capacity by more than 1,500 in what has been dubbed a “significant investment” by the club’s owner. The Aviva Premiership side currently have the smallest stadium capacity in the league – when taking into account Saracens’ approved expansion plans – at 10,200. The division’s average is 16,624.Kingston Park’s North Stand has no roof, leaving fans exposed to the weather, while the existing training pitches to the north and west of the stadium suffer from poor drainage which restricts their usage.Furthermore, the northern pitch is restricted in width and is not full-size.As such, the club hope to redevelop the stand to provide an additional 1,530 covered seats, and establish a hospitality suite and eight additional hospitality boxes. The extension would provide approximately 48,500 sq ft of accommodation over four levels.
