Plans for a 180-home housing development by the A59 on the outskirts of Harrogate have been submitted to the council. The planning documents, submitted by Pegasus Urban Design on behalf of Rowan Green Developments, demonstrate how the business plans to turn an 21.7 acre agricultural field known as Cow Dyke Farm into a 180-home housing estate. The site which runs along Skipton Road is within 2.2 miles of Harrogate town centre and approximately 16.2 miles north of Leeds.Harrogate-based Rowan Green Developments is proposing that 40 per cent of the dwellings on site would fall within the definition of affordable housingThe 8.8 hectare site would hold 180 dwellings and allowing for the site to have open space and green infrastructure links, in keeping with the surrounding character of the area. The final layout of the scheme will be subject to approval at the reserved matters stage. The site will have a 15 metre vegetation buffer along the northern boundary and it is proposed that the development is visually screened from the adjoining fields to integrate the development into the surrounding open countryside.
